A massive afforestation drive has been launched at North Karnpura.The green initiative formally commenced on Thursday with the joint sapling plantation by Shri S P Suman, DFO,Chatra, South and Shri Tajinder Gupta, CGM,NTPC North Karanpura in presence of Shri Mukti Prakash Panna, Range Forest Officer and Shri A K Chawla, AGM(HR) along the State Highway Keraderi-Bijuparah section at Tandwa end.

The plantation is being done through,Forest Department, Govt of Jharkhand on depository basis.Altogether 8000 sapling would be planted on both sides of the state high way along a 10 KM stretch from the Keraderi end.Forest department will lookafter the plantation for a period of three years.NTPC has deposited a sum of Rs 1.41 Cr with the state Forest Department for the job.
